Running With The Big White Dog

Instead of going to my spin class today, I decided to go for a run around my neighborhood. I like where I run most of the time since it’s quiet country roads. But today wasn’t so quiet.

About halfway through, a big white dog started running after me so I decided to slow down to a walk. I didn’t want him running after me and attacking me. It kind of screwed with my mood and my focus so I didn’t have a great run. I ended up walking for quite a while, trying to find his owner.

5.43 miles
1 hour 15 minutes

Hopefully my run tomorrow will be better.

My Garmin Watch

I ordered this fabulous running watch a few weeks ago, from Amazon, and I finally received it. It’s a Garmin, one of the main makers of GPSs, so basically, it will be able to follow and track my running. It maps out my run, tells me how fast I ran, how long I ran, and how far I ran. It even has a heart monitor. I’m sure it does a few other things but I’ll have to play with it and figure it out.

Look how pretty it is (for a sports watch)!

The name of the watch is Forerunner 110 and this is the women’s edition, obviously. It also comes in black and red or black and grey. But I prefer these colours. More feminine.
An awesome thing about about the watch is that I can connect it to my Garmin Online account and transfer all my information from my watch to my account. That way I can always look back and track my improvements.

From what I hear, you have to charge it quite a lot, compared to a normal watch but I think that’s normal since it uses enough power to work with the GPS. If you’re not working out and not using the GPS, the battery life is longer and obviously you can use it as a normal watch.

I’m very anxious to get started with it. Unfortunately, it has to be used outside. But I don’t want run outside. It’s cold and there’s too much snow. I might have to wait until it gets warmer to actually use it more. But it doesn’t mean I can’t wear it! I did test it out yesterday. It was pretty cold so I didn’t run far or very fast but I’m satisfied with what the watch can do. It will definitely help me with training for my first 5K.

Total Cleanse–Day 3 (Final Day)

total cleanseSo yesterday was the last day of my cleanse, and let me tell you, it was tough. I had a hard time to get the juices down, so I ended up modifying it by removing the second Green Energy and the Cashew Milk. Instead, I finished my day with a light meal. I had a salad with spinach, vegetables, nuts and small dried fruits with a balsamic vinaigrette. And a few pieces of chicken. I realize that’s a no no while doing a cleanse, but I just couldn’t do it anymore. If I had to restart, I think I would only have done it for two days. It was my first cleanse so I had no idea what to expect.

Overall, I lost 5 pounds but gained 1 back. I’m quite satisfied with that since the goal wasn’t weight loss but actually doing the cleanse. Overall, after all this, I feel great. Better than ever actually. Would I recommend it? I don’t think so. The juices themselves don’t taste all that good. The first day, the taste didn’t really bother me and I could deal with it. By day three, I couldn’t really stand it anymore.

Since it looked so nice outside this afternoon, with the bright sun, I decided to go for a run. But it was too cold for me and my lungs. It was -11°C but it felt like -18°C. I only ran 1.5 miles in 20 minutes.

I ended the day with 30 minutes on the elliptical and 3.6 miles. Overall, great day for me since I feel very energized after the cleanse.

Watch for my post tomorrow as I introduce you to my new running watch. Hint: it’s a Garmin and it’s grey and pink!

Total Cleanse–Day 1 and Day 2

total cleanse

So this is just a little update about how my cleanse is going. So far, I’m not very hungry. When I do get a bit hungry, it’s time for the next juice anyways and that usually calms down my stomach.

As for the juices themselves, the green one, called Green Energy, is the worse. It smells like really concentrate cucumbers, and don’t get me wrong, I love cucumber in their normal form. But this liquid stuff is pretty awful. It also contains celery, kale, lettuces, parsley, lemon, apple and romaine lettuce. I’m really not sure what makes it taste so, well, gross. I just can’t believe that I’ve been able to chug down two in a day so far.

The Lemonade is better than the Green Energy, but it does have a little kick since it contains cayenne. It’s also sweetened with maple sugar so it tastes pretty yummy. I get two of these per day also.

The Very Berry is good too but taking my last drink is a bit hard. It’s very fruity and it’s something I would enjoy sipping, not drinking in one shot.

The last drink of the day is a Cashew Milk is not bad. It really fills me up. It sort of tastes like a watered-down almond milk and I’m glad it’s the last juice of the day. It calmed my stomach through the whole night and I didn’t even wake up hungry. The only thing about it that I didn’t enjoy, was the odd texture. I was anticipating something similar to real cow milk but there are a few fibers that sneak up on you… And I only drink about half because the other half just can’t go down.

Overall, I’m doing great. I feel pretty energize and I don’t feel tired at all. Mind you, I haven’t left the house all day because the weather makes me want to stay curled up inside. Over a period of 24 hours, I think we got about a good 10 cm of snow, if not more. The roads were bad and full of the fluffy junk. So I really didn’t feel like going out. Now I will really have to wait to run outside. I think I’ll stick to the treadmill for a while.

No back to the cleanse. I think if I ever do it again, I would only do it for two days. I’m not quite sure how tomorrow will go but I’m hoping it will go well. I might end the day with a light meal instead of waiting for Monday for my first real food meal.

Total Cleanse–The Day Before

This was waiting for me outside my door this morning!

total cleanse box

I decided a couple of days ago to try this body cleanse. I have never done one and hopefully all will go well. I did a little bit of research and I think this is the best one that I found. The company is called Total Cleanse and from what I read, everything looks pretty good. The total amount of calories in one day isn’t all that great with only 1200, but hopefully that will be enough. But enough fat and electrolytes are sufficient.

I’ve already placed everything in the fridge since it needs to stay cool. If you need to bring it to work they suggested using icepack in a cooler type bag. And they provided me with the icepacks! Two were in the delivery box, to keep the product cool. (Ignore the beer beneath my cleanse bottles. They are not mine!)

There are many different cleanses, and you can even make up your own, but I decided to go with the Energize Cleanse since it “is designed as a mild cleanse for people who want to experiment with cleanses but do not want to resort to an extreme cleanse.”

Basically, I have to drink 1 juice, about every 2-3 hours and in this order:

1. Green Energy

2. Lemonade

3. Green Energy

4. Very Berry

5. Lemonade

6. Creamy Cashew Milk

(I like the fact that they are numbered, on the bottles. Will make my life easier.)

I hear they taste pretty good except maybe the green one. It might be a little harder to get down. We’ll see. Hopefully, it won’t make me gag. I have 3 days of drinking ahead of me. I decided to go for 3 days because 1 just didn’t seem to be enough, 2 was almost good, but I think 3 will give me the most benefits.

So, no major workout planned this weekend since I don’t want to pass out or feel famished afterwards. I’m going to keep it light, maybe with a short, brisk walk or maybe some low impact Zumba.

P.S. I love the colour of their logo. It matches my blog…
