Every Wednesday…

…is usually a spinning day. I love the 12:15 pm class at my Goodlife gym. Of course, they use the LesMills group classes, and the spin class, called RPM, is my favorite. I’m usually not working on Wednesday so I try to go every week. Here is a bit more information about the class.

Usually, one class lasts about 45 minutes but last Saturday, I did a 3 hour class. It was more like a spin-athon since we were raising money for the Heart and Stroke foundation. I think the gym location I go to raised about 2000$.

Before the class today, I was able to run 3 miles on the treadmill. Well not exactly run. Since I’m still new to running, I decided to take things slow and start of with walking/running intervals. Today I was able to run 1 minute, then walk 1 minute. The 3 miles took me 41 minutes all together. Not great but a good beginning.

This was followed by a spin class, which I always enjoy.

Slowly climbing to a full 5k run will be tough but I think I’ll be able to get to it eventually. I have a few races planned for 2012, but nothing crazy. And nothing before May.

Wish me luck!

Welcome everyone!

Since this is my first post, I guess I have to welcome everyone to my goal of achieving a better life. I plan on doing this by running, drinking champagne (in moderation!), and adding a few things in between.

I’ve been a pretty active person all my life, but with post-secondary school and the beginning of my working life, stress and unhealthy living has put weight (literally) on my life. I want to change for the better and I want to share it with as many people as possible.

Running is very new to me but in the past few months, I’ve started to really enjoy it. Another passion of mine is spinning class, which I do at my gym, Goodlife. RPM yes!

veuve clicquotGoing green has been a goal of mine for quite some time, but I want to take it to the next level. On my blog, I will try to show you how I plan to achieve this, and show you what I’m doing now.

I love drinking, and my favorite thing to drink is Champagne! Thankfully, it’s not cheap because if it was, then I would be drinking way to much of it. Besides my mild addiction to champagne, I also have a pretty intense addiction to coffee and tea (mostly green). And I love water. Do ask me why, I just do.

So this is just a brief description, of what I hope will be a great and entertaining blog. Please, come back whenever you have the time. Run a few miles with me and say yes! to Champagne. To quote my grandmother, Laura, when she’s sitting in first class on an airplane, “Water, no. Champagne, YEEESSS!!!”
